History of the Method: The Cornerstone of Western Massage

Massage is one of humanity's oldest healing practices, known everywhere from the Yellow Emperor of China to the ancient Greeks. The origin of the word itself is debated: it may come from the Greek massin (to rub) or the Arabic massa (to press).

The foundations of modern Swedish massage were laid by Pehr Henrik Ling in the 19th century, but the medical systematization of the method is attributed to Johan Georg Mezger – we owe the French names of the strokes still used today to him. Professor Mosengeil also played a pioneering role in scientific recognition, proving the circulation-improving effects of massage through experiments. Thus, this technique is a therapy with a serious history based on the science of physiology and anatomy.

The Island of Tranquility

During the treatment, the outside world ceases to exist. You rest on a comfortable, heated bed while premium quality, fragrant oils help you relax. The rhythm and strength of the massage are always adapted to your needs: it can be soft and soothing for stress relief, or more powerful and dynamic to loosen tight muscles. The goal is always the same: to regain the joy of pain-free movement and inner peace.

Personalized Care

Unlike mechanical massage chairs, here every movement is backed by attention and expertise. My hands feel the muscle tone, the focal points of tension, and concentrate where it is needed most. This kind of intuitive, human touch is what brings true healing and relief.

Frequently Asked Questions about Swedish Massage

What does the treatment consist of?

Swedish massage is based on five fundamental techniques (stroking, friction, kneading, vibration, tapping), each with a different effect on the body, helping to relax muscles and improve circulation.

Is Swedish massage painful?

The massage is fundamentally pleasant and relaxing. When releasing muscle knots (trigger points), you may feel "good pain," but I always adjust the intensity to your pain threshold. If anything is uncomfortable, please let me know immediately, and I will adjust the technique.

How often should I come?

In case of existing complaints (e.g., back pain), once a week is recommended until improvement. For maintenance and stress relief, 1-2 times a month is ideal to preserve physical and mental balance.

What should I wear?

The massage is performed in underwear. During the treatment, your body is covered with a towel, and only the body part being treated is exposed. For ladies, unhooking the bra may be necessary when lying on the stomach to properly treat the back muscles.

How should I arrive for the treatment?

We recommend not consuming heavy food 1 hour before the treatment, as lying on your stomach can be uncomfortable with a full stomach. It is worth drinking plenty of water before and after the massage to support detoxification.

Is it normal to need the bathroom during the treatment?

Completely natural! Massage stimulates circulation and metabolism, which can increase excretion. If you feel an urge, feel free to indicate it; we will pause and continue the treatment after you use the restroom.
